Florida Gulf Coast University Renews Affiliation
Mississauga Hornets Players Continue to Enjoy Access to College Hockey!

The Mississauga Hornets Hockey Association is proud to announce that it has renewed its partnership with the Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Eagles Hockey Team. This affiliation gives players within the Hornets organization an opportunity to look to the future. The FGCU Hockey Team has quickly become the home of many former Hornets players that look to continue playing hockey at a competitive level, while seeking an university education. Florida Gulf Coast University is one of the best schools in the state of Florida and boasts one of the best college hockey programs in the United States. The Mississauga Hornets U-21 "AAA" team makes an annual trip to Southwest Florida to take on the Eagles and give the players direct exposure to the college hockey environment.
Florida Gulf Coast University is located in beautiful Fort Myers, Florida. The university currently has a student population of over ten thousand (10,000) students and is one of the fastest growing universities in the nation. The FGCU Eagles Hockey Program currently hosts two teams in both Division 2 and Division 3 of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). The hockey program was started in 2002 and has quickly become a powerhouse in the college hockey scene, with both teams finishing ranked second in the nation after the 2008-2009 season. The team plays out of one of the nicest college hockey facilities in the country in the Germain Arena Complex, which also hosts the East Coast Hockey League's (ECHL) Florida Everblades. The Eagles also have a strong following, attracting over 1000 fans to their games consistently. When you add it all up, the FGCU Hockey Program is a perfect fit for any inspiring hockey player looking to continue their hockey careers at the college level and that is exactly why the Mississauga Hornets Hockey Association is so proud of this affiliation.
