| The beginning of the Mississauga Hornets Hockey Club dates back to 1964. At this time, boys in the Dixie area of Mississauga formed teams in order to participate in the Metro Toronto Hockey League (MTHL) at a higher level of competition. Initially these teams were called the Dixie-Burnhamthorpe Royals, but they soon became known as the Mississauga Royals. This original founding date makes us the second oldest association from Mississauga operating in what is now known as the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), with the oldest being the Mississauga Reps Hockey Association. In 1975, when it was required that all “AAA” teams have an affiliation with a “AA” organization, the Royals worked out one with the Toronto Young Nats and changed their name to the Royal Nationals. A few years later when the affiliation was no longer a requirement the association reverted back to their old name (Mississauga Royals Hockey Association). The association incorporated as a not for profit corporation, operating as the Royals Hockey Association of Metro Toronto and area in 1992. In June 1994, the Royals changed their name in an effort to modernize the look of the association. They adopted new colours similar to the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association and the Mississauga Hornets “AA” Hockey Association was born. |

Unfortunately, John passed away on January 17, 2009, but his love and passion for the Mississauga Hornets will live on forever. The reigns of the Hornets have been taken over by his son Bill Marshall and the name will stay in the family for years to come. |

| The Hornets teams presently play in the GTHL West division among other Mississauga teams such as the Terriers, Jets, Braves, Northstars and the Streetsville Tigers. We currently have eight "AA" teams from Minor Atom through Midget exclusively and the Under-21 "AAA" program, which was implemented in the 2002-2003 season and is the newest addition to the Mississauga Hornets Hockey family. The most notable of our alumni is Dave Poulin, who played in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals, and Boston Bruins. The Mississauga Hornets Hockey Association has been and will always be a family tradition. The association was proud to be served by its most dedicated and passionate president in John Marshall from 1992 - 2009. John helped modernize the association and led the Mississauga Hornets into the 21st century. John Marshall quickly became a landmark within the minor hockey community and will be a permanent fixture of the |
